The Iron King
By Julie Kagawa
Overview:
"Meghan Chase has a secret destiny—one she could never have imagined…
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her
father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in
at school…or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best
friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's
known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth—that she is the daughter of a
mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just
how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no
faery creature dare face…and to find love with a young prince who might rather
see her dead than let her touch his icy heart."-Julie Kagawa
My thoughts:
I had been trying to convince myself for weeks to open this book up and read it. But like almost every other person, I always caught myself doing something else instead of reading this book. Finally late last night, I opened it up and begun reading. I had been at a friends earlier, and I had to get up early to be somewhere, so I only got past the copy right page, before I told myself I should sleep. I am so glad that I did, for when I opened it today, I just couldn't put the book down.
All day I took the book around with me, devouring it one delectable page at a time. It felt like I had become addicted, so I stopped after lunch and went to my friends. I got nothing out of going over there, I only remember that we were outside, because I was busy wondering what would happen next in this book. I absoulutely loved it!
It starts out kind of slow, but compared to some of the other books I have read recently, it kept having things happen that would make me hold my breath; and I would only realize I was holding it, when I exhaled. The Characters in it are witty, funny, daring, and relateable. I enjoyed letting them live in my imagination as I read this story.
This book is action packed, with adventure, suspense, and a little pinch of romance on the side. Its told from Meghan's point of view. It was fun to read, because of her limited view. This book is another must read, and another that may make it onto my end of the year list, and I cannot wait to get the next Iron Fey book, 'The Iron Daughter'.
